Our Latest Project: The Peterson Home

March 17, 2016

The Petersons were building a stunning new home in the Fort Collins area. To feature their amazing mountain views, the design called for big, beautiful west-facing windows in their great room. This was an excellent idea but left the issue of direct sunlight to be solved by window treatments. Ms. Peterson’s designer suggested they wire the house for integrated motorized shades to provide effortless light control.

Ms. Peterson said, “I had looked at a couple shade shops in the Fort Collins area. They knew a lot about fabrics and products, but didn’t seem to really know about motorization, which we viewed as essential. When I called The Denver Shade Company and named a couple systems I had found, Jared knew exactly what I was talking about, and explained the technology behind them.”

When anyone comes in, whether they know exactly what they want or not, we are careful to make sure they know the pros and cons of each system. We want the homeowner to fall in love with a technology before they fall in love with a particular product. Not every technology comes in all kinds of shades. And not every shade comes with the best technology. We wouldn’t be a good partner if we didn’t know the strengths and weaknesses of each of our product offerings. We wouldn’t be a good partner if we didn’t offer our clients choices.

Ms. Peterson came into our showroom so we could talk her through her technology and aesthetic choices and she could find exactly what she had envisioned. She was considering roller shades or the Hunger Douglas Silhouette or Pirouette lines. Ultimately, she chose the Hunter Douglas Pirouette system because it not only raises and lowers, but it also opens and closes. She was looking for more flexibility in light control.

“I can have my shades programmed to close when the sun comes up or open when the sun sets so we can see it, and it isn’t glaring,” Ms. Peterson said. “Programmability is one of the great things about the system. Jared works really well integrating the design and fabrics, and balancing it with the technology that works in your home.”

If you’d like to see how this Hunter Douglas system or any of our other systems work to control the light in your home, stop by the showroom or give us a call today. The Denver Shade Company is more passionate about motorized shading systems than you can imagine.
